Charity Quilt made by Guild Members

About US

In July 1999, seeing the need for a local Guild dedicated to the preservation and encouragement of all types of fiber arts, a group of Round Rock residents started the Main Street Quilt and Thread Guild. From that nucleus of founders, we have grown to a membership of nearly 80 men and women. The “thread” that binds us is a love of all things fabric, a desire for fellowship and community, and a desire to improve our skills.
The Guild meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Round Rock Public Library 216 E. Main Street in the  Conference Room. Social time starts at 6:30 pm and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We do not have regular meetings in November, December and April. Rather we have a members-only holiday party in early December and a members-only social in April in lieu of those meetings.
The Guild is proud of its 501(c)(3) non-profit status and strives to fulfill its mission to educate the public as to the significance, history, and preservation of fiber arts as an ongoing art form. We also engage in a number of activities that support other non-profit groups in the Round Rock area.
Through our “Love and Comfort” committee, we provide quilts for various organizations in our Round Rock community:  The Transition House, Project Linus, and Linus Connection. In 2018-2019 Guild year we donated nearly 500 quilts and/or quilt tops to these local organizations. We also collaborated on a quilt for the Sacred Heart Clinic silent auction, an organization in our community that serves the medical needs of the working poor. In the past we have also provided a donation quilt to raise money for the Cedar Park Veterans Memorial Park. Our members are generous with their talents and resources and enjoy engaging in those activities that improve our community.
Through our monthly meetings, our quilt “retreats,” group sew-ins and other activities, we offer our members the opportunity to connect with people who share an interest in creating art through fabric.  We encourage and support each other because the ultimate goal is to enjoy ourselves. No particular skill level is necessary and even if you have never sewn a stitch, we would love for you to come and learn.
We hope that you will reach out to us or come to a meeting to find out more about our organization and the fantastic people that make up the Main Street Guild.
